Okay, I have to rant. Moments ago I heard the report of someone who gets anxious every time they see the American flag. The interviewer agreed, saying that she pulled into a gas station recently that had dozens of American flags on display and told her passenger, “We have to get out of here!” What?!
As a loyal, patriotic American veteran and citizen of the United States I cannot help but be in total disbelief that this attitude exists. It disgusts me and angers me that statements like this even get airtime. I have to believe that this is an extremely rare sentiment.
I have to believe that the prevailing sentiment is that our American flag is a powerful symbol of our great nation. Honor and respect are due to this flag because many thousands of men and women have died fighting under its banner. I believe God was central in the founding of America and our collective service is for God and country. I find comfort in the red, white, and blue and I am proud to fly our flag high!
Romans 15:13 (NLT) - “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
